NIGERIA’S BLEEDING ECONOMY: FINTIRI SLAMS POLICIES OF TINUBU GOVERNMENT
Fintiri Criticizes FG’s Economic Policies, Warns of Worsening Hardship for Nigerians
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, voiced his concerns on Thursday, stating that Nigerians are currently enduring severe hardship due to the federal government’s economic policies. Speaking during a meeting of the National Reconciliation Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi, Fintiri emphasized that the policies spearheaded by President Bola Tinubu‘s administration are not working and are instead worsening the economic conditions for the average Nigerian.
Fintiri’s remarks came as part of the ongoing discussions about the challenges facing the country, with governors from the North-East and other key PDP stakeholders also in attendance. Fintiri, alongside Governors of Bauchi and Taraba, discussed the pressing issues affecting the country, particularly its economic struggles.
Nigeria Is Bleeding, Says Fintiri
According to Governor Fintiri, Nigeria is facing an increasingly grim economic reality. “Nigeria is bleeding,” he declared, expressing his frustration over the nation’s economic direction. He pointed out that the country is suffering from what he described as “too much anger,” and that the current economic policies are failing to alleviate the struggles of everyday Nigerians.
Fintiri’s comments reflect a growing sentiment of dissatisfaction with the federal government’s handling of economic issues. The governor expressed deep concerns about the increasing hardships faced by the population under these policies, which he believes are having a negative impact on the livelihoods of Nigerians across all sectors.
Hardship and Misguided Policies
He argued that policies imposed by the Tinubu administration are placing an unbearable burden on the people. “The economic policy is not working,” he said, urging the Federal Government to reconsider these policies, as they seem to be creating more harm than good.
In his plea for change, Fintiri remarked that policies should not induce suffering. “Whatever will make us cry must not be part of your policy because the country belongs to us, not to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” he added, underscoring that the welfare of Nigerians should take precedence over external pressures.
PDP’s Commitment to Rebuilding and Repositioning
In addition to his remarks about the nation’s economic state, Fintiri also commented on the ongoing work of the PDP National Reconciliation Committee. The committee, led by Olagunsoye Oyinlola, aims to address the internal issues within the party and ensure it is in a stronger position to contest the 2027 general elections.
Oyinlola emphasized the importance of rebuilding the party by reaching out to aggrieved members and providing solutions to the issues that have plagued the PDP in recent years. Fintiri echoed Oyinlola’s sentiments, saying that the reconciliation committee was timely and essential in addressing the party’s internal challenges.
A Call for Better Governance
The issues raised by Fintiri reflect a broader call for better governance in Nigeria, focusing on policies that prioritize the needs of citizens rather than external financial interests. The governor’s plea for more responsible leadership is a reminder of the fragile socio-political and economic environment in the country.
