Nigerian Female Boxer, Elizabeth Oshoba Becomes First Nigerian Female to Win World Boxing Title
Nigerian boxer Elizabeth Oshoba secured an impressive victory at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, winning the World Boxing Council silver featherweight title by defeating Italy’s Michela Braga.
Oshoba’s dominant performance earned her Judges’ scores of 88-82, 87-83, and 90-80. With this win, Elizabeth improved her record to 7 wins and 4 knockouts, while Michela suffered her first career loss, standing at 6 wins and one loss.
Oshoba’s remarkable journey began in Ogun State, Western Nigeria, where she started in a local gym with limited resources. Despite the challenges, her dedication led to success, including a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a gold medal in the 2023 Fight Town Prospects tournament. In 2024, she added the IBO female super-featherweight title by defeating Martina Righi.
