Eskom’s New Leadership Team Under CEO Dan Marokane
Eskom CEO Dan Marokane has announced four new executives to help solve the company’s challenges and ensure its growth. This is part of Eskom’s plan to improve its business and prepare for the future. Marokane believes the new team will bring valuable skills and fresh ideas to help Eskom succeed.
The New Executive Team
- Portia Mngomezulu will focus on improving internal controls and making Eskom’s divisions more efficient.
- Nontokozo Hadebe will work on updating Eskom’s long-term strategy, focusing on sustainability and making sure Eskom is prepared for future challenges.
- Roman Crookes will drive efficiency in capital projects, ensuring Eskom completes them on time and within budget.
- Len de Villiers will handle Eskom’s technology, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and improving cybersecurity.
Strong Leadership for Eskom
Energy expert Crown Prince Adil Nchabeleng praised Marokane for showing great leadership. He believes the new team understands the energy sector’s key issues and will help Eskom manage its challenges, especially the restructuring into three divisions: Generation, Transmission, and Distribution.
However, Nchabeleng pointed out that Eskom still faces the challenge of figuring out the best way to manage these three divisions, especially regarding tariffs and revenue.
Focus on Results
Eskom’s chairperson, Dr. Mteto Nyati, also spoke about the importance of strong leadership. He noted that Eskom has already saved R2 billion on diesel by improving its processes and using the right equipment. Nyati is optimistic that if Eskom can achieve a 70% energy availability factor (EAF) by March next year, load shedding will end.
Conclusion
Eskom’s new leadership team is expected to make a big impact on the company’s future. With these new appointments, Eskom is working hard to overcome its challenges and ensure it remains an important part of South Africa’s energy sector.
