Since 2015, Honourable Meranda has represented the Apapa 1 Lagos State Constituency with unwavering dedication. Her leadership roles as the Deputy Speaker and Chief Whip of the 9th Assembly further demonstrated her capability and the trust her colleagues have in her.
Born into an illustrious family with deep-rooted political and royal ties, including her late father, Chief T. A. Lawal Akapo, and her brother, Oba AbdulWasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iruland, Honourable Meranda’s commitment to public service was inspired from an early age.

Honourable Meranda’s academic background reflects her dedication to continuous learning and growth. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Lagos State University in 2013 and has further pursued studies at the University of Lagos, along with an Advanced Certificate in Software Development. Her political career began with impactful roles in Apapa Local Government, where she served as Senior Special Assistant on Intervention and Intergovernmental Affairs and Supervisory Councillor for Health.
Her contributions as a legislator have been remarkable. She has worked tirelessly to refine and update existing laws to align with contemporary issues, with a strong focus on gender equality and empowering women in politics. As one of only four women in the 40-member Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Meranda’s election as Speaker represents not just a personal achievement, but a symbol of progress for women in Nigerian politics.
