ToggleEpisode four of Crown Chasers brought us into the vibrant world of fashion, featuring the renowned clothing brand, Forever New. The contestants faced two thrilling challenges designed to showcase their creativity and business acumen through fashion.
The first challenge required the contestants to work in pairs and create three looks to dress mannequins, under the theme of empowering themselves as businesswomen. Soweto’s Nompumelelo Maduna and Emalahleni’s Kebalepile Ramafoko excelled, each winning a stylish handbag from Forever New for their impressive designs.
In the second challenge, the contestants were tasked with designing a twelve-look collection in pairs, aided by Forever New graphic designers. Presenting their collections to Jessica Wild, a product manager for Forever New SA, Oudtshoorn’s Mia Le Roux and Kirsten Khan emerged victorious, each winning a handbag for their outstanding work.
The guest judge for episode four, Londeka Buthelezi-Ndaba, founder of the multi-award-winning South African fashion brand Malondie, brought a wealth of expertise to the judging panel. Despite her efforts, Gqebereha’s Nolene Spinks was eliminated, marking the end of her journey on the show.
Nolene, a singer who made it to the Top 14, shared her reflections on the competition:
“My journey on Miss SA was not at all what I expected. Not being from the pageant world, I had some preconceived ideas of what pageants are and the modelling world. And honestly, this was not the same at all, this was better. I feel the healthiest that I have ever been, mentally, physically, and everything.”
Nolene also expressed gratitude for her sessions with Yvonne Johnston, a life coach specializing in self-mastery coaching. These sessions helped her understand and cope with rejection, a valuable lesson that she will carry forward.
As Nolene bids farewell to the Miss SA stage, she fondly remembers the challenges, the adrenaline, the fast-paced learning, and the camaraderie with other contestants. Her journey, though cut short, has been a transformative experience that has left a lasting impact on her life.
