HIBERNIAN FC SECURES GAMBIA MIDFIELDER ALASANA MANNEH FROM ODENSE
Hibs Sign Alasana Manneh: Strengthening the Midfield for the Future
Hibernian FC has made a strategic move in the January transfer window by securing Gambia international midfielder, Alasana Manneh, from Danish second-tier leaders Odense Boldklub. The 26-year-old, who has shown his talent in several European leagues, has joined the Scottish Premiership side on a three-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee. His arrival signals Hibs’ intent to bolster their squad as they look forward to a more competitive season.
A Competitive Player with Diverse Experience
Manneh’s journey to Scotland is nothing short of impressive. A graduate of Barcelona’s academy, Manneh has honed his skills across various European clubs. He spent time on loan at Sabadell in Spain and Etar in Bulgaria before making a permanent move to Gornik Zabrze in 2019. His experience continued to grow as he joined Odense in Denmark, where he made a significant impact with his performances. Despite Odense’s relegation last season, Manneh’s individual abilities stood out, contributing seven assists this season as Odense led the Danish second tier by eight points.
Hibs had been keen to secure Manneh’s signature, especially since he was due to be a free agent this summer. Their swift negotiations with Odense meant they could bring him to Leith immediately, pending international clearance.
Coach’s View on the Signing
Hibernian head coach, David Gray, expressed excitement about Manneh’s arrival, noting his competitive nature and strong work ethic. Gray highlighted the midfielder’s technical ability and experience at senior level, particularly in high-level leagues. “At 26, Alasana adds extra strength to the middle of our midfield,” Gray said, emphasizing the importance of having a player with his skill set.
Gray’s positive assessment of the player was echoed by Hibs sporting director, Malky Mackay, who explained the club’s transfer strategy for January. Mackay stated that they had aimed to add quality over quantity to their squad, ensuring each signing would bring value to the team’s goals for the season.
Looking Ahead: Strengthening the Midfield for Success
Manneh’s signing is expected to provide Hibs with a solid boost in their midfield, offering them more depth and versatility as they aim for a successful season in the Premiership. His technical skills, combined with his international experience, make him a valuable asset to the team.
As the January transfer window progresses, it is clear that Hibernian FC is making calculated moves to ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead. With Manneh now on board, Hibs are more equipped than ever to push forward in the upcoming matches.
